Animal Crossing: Wild World

Description:

In 2005, Nintendo released Animal Crossing: Wild World, a social-simulation video game for the Nintendo DS. Release dates in Japan were November 2005, North America and Australia were December 2005, and Europe were March 2006. All of these regions were followed by Europe in March 2006. Animal Crossing: New Leaf is the follow-up to Animal Crossing: Wild World on the GameCube.

Living in an animal-populated town, the player character is encouraged to engage in a variety of activities, such as collecting and planting. When playing in real time, in-game events are affected by the time of day or season, much like any other Animal Crossing game. This allows the game to be played like any other Animal Crossing game. Until its demise in May 2014, Wild World made use of Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection to let users go to and visit the towns of other players via online gaming.

At the time of its first release, the game garnered mostly positive reviews, averaging 86/100 on Metacritic and GameRankings. Wild World has sold 11.75 million copies worldwide as of March 31, 2016, making it the eighth best-selling Nintendo DS game. On the Wii U Virtual Console in October 2016, it was also re-released.
